Transitions is a free non-clinical support program for those with a prognosis of a year or so. Dealing with advancing illness is difficult, but the Transitions team can help ease worry, stress and fear. The professional staff assesses and case-manages each client, but it is the volunteer who is central to the client’s well-being and state of mind.
Here’s some feedback from those we have served about their volunteers:
“I can’t say enough about my husband’s volunteer. He is such a good companion”.
“She may be my volunteer, but she’s more like a sister to me”.
“Our volunteer came over last Sunday and brought hamburgers and French fries for all of us. He is so nice, we think of him like a son”.
“I enjoy my volunteer and the games we play. She is one smart cookie”.
“She sat down beside me and we just talked. I wanted to hold her hand, so we held hands and talked some more.”
